I attended Augusta College (now Augusta State University) from 1976 to 1979 at which time I transferred to
Valdosta State College (now Valdosta State University ). I received a Bachelor of Arts with a Sociology major (concentration in Social Services)
in 1981. I received a Master of Science degree in Sociology in 1983. I worked as the Director of Volunteer Services and Risk Manager at Humana
Hospital Lucerne from 1984 to 1986. In 1986 I moved to Tampa to begin work as a medical malpractice insurance adjuster, working first on behalf
of hospitals and then on behalf of Physicians. I attended law school at Memphis State University (now University of Memphis ), graduating with a
Juris Doctorate degree in 1992. I remained in Memphis for a year following graduation from law school to work as a law clerk for a Federal
Magistrate, the Honorable James H. Allen. I began work as a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney for a firm in Orlando in 1993. In 1995 I left
that firm to begin work at a firm which I eventually purchased in 1996 and founded Jeffrey B. Sexton, P.A.
